Won't Play AVI Files in VLC- Fixed yet

You may have tried every way to play AVI files in VLC, but still failed. Read through this article and I think your VLC AVI playback issues would be resolved easily.

I just recently installed the VLC player and everything was going fine. Suddenly my video was freezing and I was forced to close everything down. I rebooted my machine but now when I look all of the .avi files on my machine have been greyed out in VLC media player. Any thoughts for opening AVI files in VLC player

Searching further, here's some more information for my troubleshooters. Someone told me to try to drag a drop an .avi file into VLC player, which I did. Unfortunately, what I got was clear sound with no controls and no picture :(

Then I tried another way some guys recommend. Based on their thoughts, the reason why VLC won't play my AVI videos correctly due to the AVI codecs as AVI is a container video format which generally contains a number of audio, video, and subtitle streams. In the condition, If an AVI file contains a VLC incompatible video codec, it will fail to play in VLC...
